On 5th November 2015, the members of IEEE EMBS MUET Chapter in collaboration with Department of Biomedical Engineering organized an event for the inaugural ceremony of IEEE EMBS MUET Chapter, at MUET Auditorium. The event “TECHNO-SENSE’15,” was an effort to promote entrepreneurship and core technology among engineering students of all discipline. Respected Chairman BME, Engr. N.P Chowdhry presided the event while Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor, MUET, Prof. Dr. B.S Chowdhry, Branch Counsellor IEEE MUET Student branch & Dean, FEECE, Engr Zahid Mustafa, M.D. AMS (Pvt) ltd. and Prof. Dr. Inamullah Bhatti, Director ORIC were the guests of Honor.

Quickly following, an MoU agreement was also signed by Engr.Zahid Mustafa, MD AMS Pvt ltd and Prof. Dr. Inamullah Bhatti, Director, ORIC, MUET to form a collaboration between Analytical Measuring Systems Pvt. ltd and Mehran University of Engineering & Technology.

For several reasons, TECHNO-SENSE’15 was the best event in the history of MUET. It was the first time that Dept. of BME organized an event in Auditorium which was also acknowledged and appreciated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor, MUET, Prof. Dr. B.S Chowdhry, Dean, FEECSE. Prof Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry, Dean, FEECE and Counselor IEEE MUET Branch delivered welcome speech and enlightened the benefits of IEEE & EMBS, he also encouraged the students who are not members must join IEEE. Chief Guest of the event Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor, MUET said; It’s good to see an event organized by BME Dept. competing with other departments who have recently held events in this same auditorium.” While exploring the arenas of Biomedical Engineering, he further said: “BME Dept. brings us into competition with medical universities as well.” Engr Zahid Mustafa MD AMS (Pvt) ltd was the keynote speaker of the event, whose sessions went smoothly well. He highlighted the role of Biomedical Engineers in society. He gave a detailed background of his company and offered influential ideas for career counseling. Engr. Zahid provided some really costeffective solutions putting different scenarios of Pakistan into consideration, so that students adopt realistic approach earlier and avoid fantasizing. He also signed the MoU for industry-academia partnership between his company; AMS (Pvt) Ltd. & MUET. He announced 3 cash awards of 30 thousands, 20 thousands and 10 thousands PKR for top three position holders of final year students of department of BME and also announced need cum scholarship of Rs10k per month for the students of Dept. of BME who has been excelling throughout his/her academic years yet facing fiscal issues.

There were two other highlights of the event: One was the announcement of office bearers of EMBS society in which Salman Abbasi (13BM), Nuzhat Shaikh (14BM) and Hassan Mugheri (13BM) were designated as Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary respectively. Total eight designations were announced which were secured by students of 15, 14 and 13 BM. The second was the project competition among BME students in which we witnessed some super-cool robotic projects based on Arduino comprising all the latest hardware and software. The winner was Sara Khuwaja(15BM) for her Temperature-Sensor project. It’s worth mentioning, that she’s the same girl who previously won an IQ quiz in one of the events at MUET and made everyone proud of her brilliance.

Hassam Mughal, Vice Chair, Young Professional, Karachi Chapter was also invited as a guest motivational speaker who conducted his session pretty well and encouraged students to take interest in IEEE Societies. Following to the concluding remarks by Engr. Zahid Mustafa, shields were distributed to guests, organizers, and project presentation winners.

The ceremony was finished by the vote of thanks by Engr. N.P. Chowdhry, Chairman Department of Biomedical Engineering& Faculty Advisor of IEEE EMBS MUET Student Chapter. He appreciated the efforts made by the organizers, volunteers (BM, ES, TL, EL & CH Engineering) and the Faculty members from the BM Faculty along with their supportive staff engaged in making this event wonderful and successful. TECHNO-SENSE’15 was an idea to showcase the acknowledgement of Tech as Sixth-Sense in current developing world and remained up to the mark, as is clear from this successful event.
